Education 2030

In September 2015, the United Nations adopted the Agenda 2030: "Transforming our world: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development". For the first time, all 193 United Nations Member States committed to implementing the Agenda 2030 and its 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030 as an integral part of sustainable development.

Goal 4 of the Agenda ("ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all") is the source of the Global Education Agenda for the period 2016 to 2030. UNESCO is responsible for implementing and coordinating the Agenda within the United Nations framework. The Agenda 2030 for Education is comprehensive, holistic, ambitious, guiding, and universal, and thus goes far beyond its predecessor, Education for All 2000 - 2015.
