Education

Everyone has the right to education

Arts education

Arts education covers both the creative development of individuals as well as an understanding of regional and international art and culture. It is a central component of a comprehensive personal education and serves as a key prerequisite for active participation in the cultural life of a society.

As part of the 2006 UNESCO World Conference “Arts Education - Building Creative Capacities for the 21st Century” in Lisbon, the “Road Map for Arts Education“ was established. It supports all states in the establishment and implementation of arts education.

The Seoul Agenda, which was agreed upon during the second UNESCO World Conference on Arts Education in 2010 in Seoul, South Korea, lists UNESCO’s objectives for furthering arts education.
